Sunday Snippet 6th Dec

This will be my last post for a couple of months. I will be interstate from this week until the end of January. Sister Sue is in the USA at the moment until Jan, so poor ol' Fiona will be holding the oars on her own for a bit. Please be willing to help out if she needs, and keep an eye on her for me, I know she's tuff but everyone needs support and encouragement.

Announcements:

  • Sat 12th Dec: ward Christmas activity 6.30-8.00pm
  • Sun 13th Dec: First Presidency Christmas Devotional
  • Sun 20th Dec: Expression of Christmas 6.30pm
  • Remember your Christmas Hampers are DUE NOW.
  • Our Stake RS quilting project has been postponed to the new year - unless you have time between now and Christmas to help do some cutting out - if so contact sister Debbie.
Today's lesson was led by me (Blanche) and was based on President Monson's Sunday morning address at General Conference. The talk is titled "What have I done for someone today?" and is found in the November '09 Ensign. It's a lovely talk so please try to find time to read it for yourself.
President Monson expressed concern that many of us are living side by side and not heart to heart. He has urged us to find out what the needs of others are and find ways we can help.

"My brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness—be they family members, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us".

President Monson encouraged us all to ask ourselves the question; what have I done for someone today?

What better time to be reminded of how important it is to serve and help others than at this time when we celebrate with the rest of the world, the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope that we can all heed the counsel of our dear prophet and do something for someone every day.

See you next year,

Blanche
