Last Sundays Snippet

Oh my goodness, I need to keep up with this! There is a lot to do when you are flying solo... come back Blanche, Sue and Andrea!!

Last Sunday our lesson was given by Sister Karina, she did an amazing job teaching. There was not a face in the room that I could see who had not felt the spirit. Her testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith was shared along with others as they felt prompted. A truly beautiful Sunday. Sister Liliane Dalton said that she had not been in Relief Society for so long and she was so thankful to be there, especially for that lesson.





We had family and friends visiting members in our ward and also Sister Lee down from Melbourne. The primary children came in for the last few minutes and sang a sweet Christmas Carol to end our meeting.

We are looking forward to Sister Angela who will be teaching us next Sunday.

New Missionaries

New missionaries arrived on Hobart Ward shores last night, with no place for Christmas... (so I have heard)... If you would like to share a meal with them Christmas day, please contact me or Nicholas King.

Congratulations to Kelly Richardson and family!! Kelly Welcomed her new baby boy Tommy who was born yesterday morning at 7.42am, weighing 7lbs 2oz. Welcome to life Baby Tommy!!

Sunday 13th December

Hello everyone,

Today's lesson was about the importance of family relationships and is available to read here. Brother Gary and Sister Pat did a little skit about husband and wife, this little act demonstrated jokingly how we might improve those relationships, it was pretty funny and we all got a little surprise.

Sister Pat helped us to remember that as part of a family we need to be aware of the needs of others not only ourselves. The most important relationships we have are found in our family and we can nurture these ties by spending time with those whom we really love, our family.

Thank you for teaching the lesson Sister Pat. Next week Sister Karina Thorne will be teaching for us.


We would like to thank the Sisters who have volunteered to cook meals for Danielle and Philip Loenneker. If you would like to cook a meal or are able to assist in any way please call Sister Robyn Smith and please remember the family in your prayers.

This will be my last post for a couple of months. I will be interstate from this week until the end of January. Sister Sue is in the USA at the moment until Jan, so poor ol' Fiona will be holding the oars on her own for a bit. Please be willing to help out if she needs, and keep an eye on her for me, I know she's tuff but everyone needs support and encouragement.

Today's lesson was led by me (Blanche) and was based on President Monson's Sunday morning address at General Conference. The talk is titled "What have I done for someone today?" and is found in the November '09 Ensign. It's a lovely talk so please try to find time to read it for yourself.

President Monson expressed concern that many of us are living side by side and not heart to heart. He has urged us to find out what the needs of others are and find ways we can help.

"My brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness—be they family members, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us".

President Monson encouraged us all to ask ourselves the question; what have I done for someone today?

What better time to be reminded of how important it is to serve and help others than at this time when we celebrate with the rest of the world, the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope that we can all heed the counsel of our dear prophet and do something for someone every day.

Sunday Snippet 29th November

Does anyone else have Christmas holiday brain. I put my tree up early this year and I think it has ensured the festive season come early. I have been in holiday mode, forgetting about a lot of things that I should be doing, like the flowers on Sunday!! Sorry Dorothy... I am however, very grateful for Andrea and the lovely plastic floral creations she had put together for use on occasions like Sunday when someone forgets it is their turn. Thank you Andrea.

Last Sunday our lesson was given by Bishop Smith, he spoke about our testimonies and how they need to be constantly nourished and we should not become complacent in our worship. Through Prayer and regular meaningful Scripture Study we can preserve our faith. Bishop reminded us of his talk a while ago where he repeated six times, A testimony is when the heart tells us what the mind does not know. The talk by Elder Dale E.
